Favorite Quotes from “Paper Towns” by John Green

Paper Towns by John Green is a must-read from my 2015 YA Gal Summer Reading List. It tells the story of a high school senior named Quentin Jacobsen who is in love for the girl next door, the mysterious and unpredictable Margo Roth Spiegelman. Margo is known for her wild adventures and when she goes missing in the weeks before prom, Quentin makes it his mission to find her.

What really made me enjoy this book were the well drawn characters. How could anybody forget Q’s hormonally crazed best friend Ben who refers to girls as “honneybunnies” and drives an old Buick named RAHPAW? In fact, I would love to read a spin-off book dedicated to Ben going off to college. That would be fabulous!

Here are my three favorite quotes from Paper Towns:

“I’m a big believer in random capitalization. The rules of capitalization are so unfair to words in the middle.” (p 32)

“Every moment of your life is lived for the future–you go to high school so you can go to college so you can get a good job so you can get a nice house so you can afford to send your kids to college so they can get a good job so they can get a nice house so they can afford to send their kids to college.”  (pp 33 and 34)

“‘Please stop,’ I said. ‘You’re upsetting the black Santas.'” (p 214)

What are your favorite quotes?

I can’t wait for the movie!
